Gyanvapi mosque dispute: HC rejects maintainability plea

The Allahabad High Court rejected the petitions filed by Gyanvapi mosque management and Sunni Waqf Board challenging the maintainability of the 1991 civil suit. The court ruled that the Hindu side’s petition was maintainable. The AIM, which manages Gyanvapi mosque, had challenged the suit filed by the Hindu side seeking restoration of a temple at the site. They argued that the suit is untenable under the Places of Worship Act of 1991. However, the court found that the act does not bar the petitions.
