Nephew elopes with GF, man assaulted, his clothes torn

A member of Mudenur gram panchayat in Haveri district’s Ranebennur taluk, Prashant Nagappa Kabbar, was assaulted and his clothes torn up. He allegedly helped his nephew elope with his girlfriend, who was already engaged to someone else. The girl’s family got her engaged to another boy against her wish. The couple visited the SP’s office, claimed they got married, and sought security. A conciliatory meeting took place in the village, but the girl did not return home, leading to a confrontation.
