On Thursday, Akasa, the youngest airline in India, placed an unprecedented order for an extra 150 Boeing 737 Max aircraft, surpassing a total value of $20 billion at list price. This landmark announcement, made during an Indian air show, marks the first of its kind in the country. Over the past 11 months since February 14, 2023, three Indian carriers—Tata’s Air India, IndiGo, and Akasa—have collectively invested in 1,120 Boeing and Airbus planes.
