For 1st time, yearly cadaver donations cross 1,000 in 2023

India’s cadaver transplant programme achieved a significant milestone in 2023, with over 1,000 deceased donors. It also surpassed other countries in the total number of hand transplants. Manipur, a conflict-torn state, joined the deceased donation programme, conducting two donations. Telangana led in cadaver donations, followed by Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Gujarat.
