Tribunal junks Cong’s plea to stay I-T recovery proceedings

Congress faced a setback on Friday as a tax tribunal rejected its appeal to halt the Income Tax department’s recovery proceedings and the attachment of its bank accounts. The Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) stated in a comprehensive order that its involvement was unnecessary. An official mentioned, “The department will now proceed to the next stage for recovering the dues,” and highlighted that the party could choose to appeal before the high court.
