BJP MP Anantkumar Hegde has restated his party’s intention to amend the Constitution and remove the word “secular” from its preamble. Hegde called on the public to ensure a two-thirds majority for the BJP in the Lok Sabha in order to make changes to the country’s founding document. Reacting to Hegde’s statement today, deputy chief minister and state Congress chief D K Shivakumar said this showed that the BJP is anti-Constitution.
