Death sentence clause in SC/ST Act valid? Top court to examine

The Supreme Court agreed on Tuesday to review the constitutionality of a provision of the SC & ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 that requires the imposition of capital punishment on a person if false and fabricated evidence provided by him leads to the conviction, imposition of the death penalty, and execution of a SC/ST community member.
