The state authorities in Dehradun have decided to involve NGOs and animal lovers to provide better medical treatment to the mules on yatra duty. More than 120 mules and horses have died on the Kedarnath route during the Char Dham yatra this year. The aim is to reduce casualties and injuries to the animals as the yatra gains momentum. The authorities have directed the animal husbandry department to collaborate with interested and registered NGOs and animal welfare societies/committees to ensure a swift process.
