AP train accident: ‘Loco pilot jumped red signal’

The train accident in Andhra Pradesh was caused by the loco pilot’s mistake of jumping the red signal, according to railway ministry sources. At least 10 people were killed and several injured when two trains collided near Kothavalasa railway station. The accident occurred when one train was switching tracks and was rear-ended by another train on the main track. Rescue operations were initiated by locals, but were hampered by the darkness.
