Ashoka’s gold mine set for comeback next year
India’s first private gold mine of the modern era, located in Jonnagiri, Andhra Pradesh, is expected to start producing a tonne of gold annually by next year. The village, once the headquarters of Ashoka The Great’s empire, has a history of gold mining dating back centuries. The private mining company Geomysore has spent the past 10 years analyzing the site and plans to begin full-scale operations by August 2024.
