Brace for longer jams at railway crossings

The railways’ decision to divert trains through Ahmedabad city is expected to worsen traffic congestion at busy crossings. The construction of underpasses at these crossings is not feasible due to technical reasons. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation had previously promised to eliminate railway crossings within five years, but this is no longer possible. As a result, frequent traffic snarls are expected at Naranpura, Sanghvi, Vijaynagar, and Sarkhej road crossings. The increase in train frequency will further exacerbate the problem, causing delays for commuters.
