British-era court has leaking roof; Pune Cantonment Board says can’t fix

Far from being a matter of pride for Pune Camp residents, the 118-year-old British-era cantonment court building has sparked concern due to its leaking roof which the Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) says cannot be repaired. Such has been the state of affairs that lawyers using the building raised Rs 22,000 to put a tarpaulin cover over the roof. The PCB says major repair work is not possible as a 2017 structural audit had recommended demolition and reconstruction of the property. Three magisterial courts operate out of the building.
