Budget private schools seek change in norms for upgrade

Budget private schools in Delhi are seeking changes in recognition and upgradation provisions for primary schools. They want the criteria to be based on floor area rather than ground area, as many of these schools are located in unauthorised colonies with limited land. There are currently 1,057 primary private unaided schools in Delhi, with 682 having permanent recognition and 375 having provisional recognition. The Private Land Public Schools Trust has written to authorities requesting changes in the norms, stating that the current criteria also causes injustice to economically weaker students.
