A woman in Bengaluru took Ikea to a consumer court after being charged Rs 20 for a branded carry bag. The court ruled in her favor, stating that Ikea was guilty of unfair trade practice. The court held that the seller should bear all expenses related to delivering the goods to the customer. The woman was awarded a refund of Rs 20, as well as Rs 3,000 in compensation for harassment. The court criticized big showrooms and malls for similar practices. Ikea has 30 days to pay the compensation.
