China asks consulates in Hong Kong for local staff details

China has reportedly requested foreign consulates in Hong Kong to submit personal details of their local staff, including names, addresses, and job descriptions. This move is seen as an escalation of China’s control over the semi-autonomous city, following the implementation of a national security law in 2020.
