Congress readies poll lineup, tweaks tactic after BJP releases list

The ruling Congress party in Chhattisgarh is expected to announce its candidates soon, following the BJP’s declaration of its lineup. There is a strong perception within the party that around two dozen of its 71 legislators are facing anti-incumbency in their respective constituencies. Congress is reportedly holding several meetings to identify candidates with winning possibilities. Two sitting legislators, Bhilai MLA Devendra Yadav and Bilaigarh (SC) Chandra Deo Prasad Rai, may face uncertainty due to their involvement in a coal levy scam.
