Curfew reimposed in Manipur’s Imphal

Curfew has been reinstated in Imphal following protests demanding the release of five men, including a member of a banned terror group, who were arrested for extortion. Security forces fired tear gas shells on protesters who attempted to storm police stations. The state government cancelled curfew relaxations as a precautionary measure.
