Declare Joshimath a ‘no new-construction zone’: Central institutes

Joshimath, a town in India, has been declared to have exceeded its carrying capacity and should be designated as a “no new construction” zone, according to a report by the National Disaster Management Authority. The report, along with seven others from key scientific and technical institutions, was not made public by the state government until now.
