Delhi: Bar owners & hotels find it tough to meet excise requirements

Bar owners in Delhi are facing difficulties in getting their antecedents verified by police, as required by the excise department. The bar owners claim that police have said it is not feasible to verify the background of such a large number of people without formal communication from the excise department. The excise department made it mandatory for licensees to submit character antecedent certificates by September 15, and failure to comply may result in license cancellation. Bar owners have approached the excise department to resolve the issue.
