Denying remission can crush spirit of reformed convict: SC

The Supreme Court of India has called for a reformative approach to justice and a change in the government’s mindset regarding remission pleas of convicts. The court stated that individuals convicted of heinous offences should not be condemned to die in jail, but should be released if their conduct has been good after spending a long period behind bars.
