Digital payments, chartered planes in state on EC radar
The Election Commission of India has instructed law enforcement agencies and banks to monitor digital payments and the transport of money via unscheduled chartered flights during elections in the state. They want to curb election bribery, including bribes paid through digital wallets and UPI. The commission also wants to identify warehouses used for stockpiling liquor and freebies and deploy women at polling stations to prevent impersonation. The goal is to ensure a free and fair election without inducements like money and freebies.
