Dispute over NCP’s name, poll symbol: EC fixes November 9 as next date of hearing

The Election Commission (EC) has scheduled a hearing on November 9 for the warring factions of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) led by Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar. The Ajit Pawar group has submitted over 9,000 documents to support its claim to the party’s name and election symbol, but the Sharad Pawar faction has alleged discrepancies in the documents. Ajit Pawar had earlier staked claim to the party’s name and symbol and declared himself as the party president with the support of 40 lawmakers.
