‘Drunk’ helper keeps bag on throttle, causes train mishap in UP

Hours after Shakurbasti-Mathura MEMU (04446) broke through the platform of Mathura Junction on Tuesday night, an internal report about the accident has found that a drunk helper had kept his bag on the throttle of the engine in the driving cab which caused a sudden acceleration and it crashed into the platform.An initial joint report prepared by a six-member team has found that this ‘helper’ — Sachin Kumar — had been sent to get the key of the driving trailer coach (DTC) cab.
