European Union raises 2023-24 white sugar production, export estimates

The European Commission has increased its estimate for white sugar production in the current season to 15.6 million metric tons, up 7% from last year. This is due to higher yields, an increase in sugar beet plantings, and a potential rise in sugar content. The Commission also raised its forecast for EU sugar exports to 750,000 tons, a 40% increase from last season. Ending stocks are expected to remain low, while EU consumption is expected to stay stable. Isoglucose production is also projected to increase by 5% in the next season.
