Ex-hubby gets life in shooter’s rape, conversion case

A special CBI court in Ranchi has sentenced the ex-husband of a national-level shooter to life imprisonment for rape, fraudulent marriage, and attempt to convert her religion. A former registrar of the Jharkhand HC was also sentenced to 15 years in prison for conspiracy. The shooter had met her husband through the registrar, who brought a cleric to force a nikah (Islamic marriage) between them. The ex-husband’s mother was also convicted and sentenced to 10 years in jail. The court has imposed fines on the convicts, and the ex-husband will remain in prison for life.
