Five Mizoram MLAs resign ahead of assembly elections
Five legislators in Mizoram have submitted their resignations ahead of the assembly elections. The resignations were submitted by VL Zaithanzama, Dr Vanlalthlana, Lalchhuanthanga, C Lalsawivunga, and Vanlalhlana. These MLAs had contested the previous elections as Independents because their party, Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM), was not registered at the time. Now that ZPM is a registered party, they need to resign to contest the elections under the party’s ticket. ZPM leader Lalduhoma, however, was re-elected without resigning as the party was registered before the current elections.
