‘Good-looking girls being paid…’: Goa DIG
Goa police have uncovered a large-scale racket where attractive young women from poor families are being bribed to file false rape cases across India. The investigation began when two women from Gujarat were found to be extorting money from clients by threatening them with fake rape cases. The women would contact clients online, travel with them to Goa, and then demand large sums of money, threatening to file rape cases if they didn’t comply. So far, two rape cases have been registered in Goa and one in Gujarat.
