Google is considering dropping Broadcom as a supplier of AI chips and designing them in-house instead, according to a report. The move is expected to save Google billions of dollars in costs as it invests heavily in AI development. The company has been in a standoff with Broadcom over the price of the TPU chips. Google has also been working on replacing Broadcom with Marvell Technology as the supplier for chips that connect servers to ethernet switches in its data centers. Additionally, Google is reportedly working on its own Tensor chips for Pixel phones.
