Govt to take a leaf out of MCD policy for tree adoption

The forest department in Delhi is planning to develop a tree-adoption policy based on a scheme launched by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. The policy will allow individuals, corporations, and institutions to adopt trees for a specified period and be responsible for their maintenance and preservation. The forest department aims to extend the adoption program to the entire city. Currently, no trees have been adopted in Delhi, but there has been interest in adopting a century-old banyan tree in Chandni Chowk.
