Guj grocer doubles as ‘Pak spy’, held for bugging army phones
The Gujarat anti-terrorist squad (ATS) has arrested a man from Pakistan for allegedly helping Pakistani agencies spy on Indian defence personnel using tracking malware on WhatsApp. The man had been granted Indian citizenship in 2005. He was booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act. The investigation revealed that the accused tricked Army personnel into installing an apk file, which was a remote access trojan that extracted information from their mobile phones. The investigation is ongoing to determine the extent of the spying operation.
