Gujarat: Semi-literate effectuates dozens of cyber fraud cases
A 36-year-old man in Devbhumi Dwarka district, India, who only completed Class 3, has successfully committed at least 24 cyber fraud cases. The man used a unique modus operandi, involving the bank accounts of money transfer agencies, to carry out the frauds. He would borrow a victim’s phone, copy their contacts, and then use those contacts to request money transfers. He would also cheat shop and hotel owners by sending them fake cheques. The man was previously arrested in 2017 for rape and was released on bail.
