Public health and global health practitioners have called for greater transparency and oversight in the election process for regional directors of the World Health Organization (WHO). The letter, signed by over 60 experts, comes amidst controversy surrounding the nomination of Salma Wazed, the daughter of Bangladesh’s current prime minister, for the position of the regional director of South East Asia.
