The Punjab and Haryana high court has ordered the Punjab government to allow Tajinder Kaur to join as a member of the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission within seven days. Kaur had been selected for the position but her appointment was cancelled in April. The court noted that no one else had been appointed to the position since then, despite directions from the Supreme Court to fill vacancies in a timely manner. The court criticized the state for not following the Supreme Court’s instructions.
