‘Hell’: Released Hamas hostage recounts ordeal

An 85-year-old woman, Yocheved Lifshitz, who was held hostage by Hamas in Gaza, has described her terrifying ordeal. Lifshitz was kidnapped from her home in Israel by armed individuals and taken to a network of underground tunnels. ​Lifshitz, said she was compelled to walk on wet ground and then descended into an underground tunnel system, which she likened to a spiderweb and in the tunnels, she met “people who told us we believe in the Quran” and promised “not to harm” her and other hostages.
