Hotels forecast festive boom amid heavy holiday bookings
Hotels in Kochi are experiencing high demand for rooms during the Puja holidays, with occupancy rates of 75% to 80%. As a result, hotels that previously offered discounted rates on weekdays have increased their prices by 25% to 30%. The majority of bookings are from domestic tourists, particularly from North India and Kerala, but there is also a steady flow of foreign tourists. Some five-star resorts and hotels are already fully booked for Diwali in mid-November. However, there is a need for Kochi’s tourism industry to reinvent itself, as tourist attractions are reportedly poorly maintained.
