House panel suggests bringing mob lynching on a par with murder

The parliamentary panel examining the three criminal justice bills is likely to recommend that the alternative punishment for murder by mob lynching on grounds of caste or community – proposed as not less than seven years in Clause 101(2) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Bill (BNS) – be dropped and brought on par with punishment for murder.
