How and why two Europe-based rival search engines have partnered to counter Google, Microsoft

European search engines Ecosia and Qwant have partnered to create an independent search index, aiming to challenge the dominance of US tech giants Google and Microsoft. The joint venture, called European Search Perspective (EUSP), will initially focus on French and German languages, with a planned launch in France in early 2025.
