In early days of farm fires, Haryana sees sharp jump from last 2 years

Farm fires in Haryana during the paddy harvesting season have already exceeded the counts of the previous two years. Satellite data shows 166 instances of farm fires in Haryana since mid-September, compared to 24 in 2022 and 21 in 2021. Experts attribute this increase to early stubble burning due to the absence of rains in September. The state government has implemented measures such as appointing nodal officers and distributing machinery to farmers for straw management, but the effectiveness of these measures in reducing farm fires remains to be seen.
