India abstain as UNGA backs ceasefire
The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution calling for a humanitarian truce in the West Asia crisis, with support from 120 countries. India abstained from voting, citing that the final text did not reflect all elements of its position, including the condemnation of terrorism. The resolution was opposed by the US and Israel, while many European countries supported it. India expressed concern over the loss of civilian lives and urged all parties to de-escalate and work towards peace negotiations.
