India says Afghan embassy still open despite suspension announcement

The Afghanistan embassy in New Delhi, which had announced a suspension of operations, is still functioning, according to the foreign ministry. The embassy had cited a lack of support from the Indian government as one of the reasons for closing down. The development may pave the way for Taliban diplomats to take over. India has allowed the ambassador and mission staff appointed by the previous Afghan government to handle visas and trade matters, but does not officially recognize the Taliban government.
