Archaeologists have discovered the tomb of a courtesan believed to have lived during Alexander the Great’s campaigns over 2,300 years ago. The tomb, found in Jerusalem, Israel, contains the cremated remains of a young woman and an exceptionally well-preserved box mirror. Experts have identified the woman as a “hetaira,” a high-class escort who provided companionship and intellectual stimulation to elite clients.
