Murasoli website hacked; culprits demand ransom
The website of Tamil daily and DMK’s mouthpiece Murasoli was hacked by cybercriminals who demanded a ransom to unlock it. At least 12 similar complaints have been reported to the police in the past month. The hackers uploaded obscene photographs of random women on the website and demanded $200 as ransom. The cybercrime wing has registered a case and formed special teams to retrieve the website. Cybercrooks target social media platforms and web pages of celebrities, demanding payment in either US dollars or cryptocurrency. Two special teams have been formed to apprehend the suspects.
