National Conference, ally Congress win 22 of 26 seats in Ladakh-Kargil polls, BJP gets 2

The National Conference and Congress parties have won a total of 22 seats in the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council-Kargil election. This was the first election held after the Union Territory of Ladakh was established. The National Conference won 12 seats, making it the largest party, while the Congress won 10 seats. The BJP won two seats, and two independent candidates were also successful.
