New India change old sporting headlines

India had a remarkable performance in track and field events on Super Sunday, winning a total of nine medals in all eight finals. Shot putter Tajiinderpal Singh Toor defended his gold medal, while Avinash Sable set a new Asian Games record to win the men’s 3000m steeplechase. Other medal winners included Sreeshankar (silver in men’s long jump), Harmilan Bains (silver in women’s 1500m), and Ajay Kumar Saroj (silver in men’s 1500m). Jinson Johnson, Nandini Agasara, and Seema Punia won bronze medals in their respective events.
