A court in New Delhi has vacated its previous order restraining the Rajya Sabha Secretariat from evicting AAP leader and MP Raghav Chadha from his government accommodation. The court stated that Chadha had no right to continue occupying the bungalow after the cancellation of the allotment. The court observed that Chadha’s status was akin to that of a licensee, which could be revoked by the competent authority at any time. The court also mentioned that appropriate proceedings were going to be initiated against Chadha under the Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorised Occupants) Act 1971.
