No breakthrough yet again in military talks on border row with China

The latest round of talks between India and China regarding the military confrontation in eastern Ladakh did not result in any significant breakthrough. The two major face-offs at Depsang Plains and Demchok remain unresolved. China has not agreed to India’s demand for a sequential process of disengagement, de-escalation, and de-induction of troops and weaponry. The restoration of patrolling rights for Indian soldiers at Depsang Plains is crucial for de-escalation.
