Delhi’s air quality remains in the ‘poor’ category with an AQI of 220. However, it is expected to worsen to ‘very poor’ on Wednesday due to farm fires, burning of effigies, and unfavorable weather conditions. Punjab recorded the highest single-day stubble burning counts this season. Haryana and Uttar Pradesh also reported paddy residue burning events. The impact of effigy burning on pollution levels will be visible near the sites. The wind speed drops during the night, causing the accumulation of pollutants. Pusa station recorded an AQI of 315, categorizing it as ‘very poor’. The air quality is predicted to remain ‘very poor’ to ‘poor’ for the next six days.
