Not sure if WhatsApp is using microphone in background, here’s how you can check

A WhatsApp bug showing incorrect privacy indicators prompted concerns that the platform was accessing users’ microphones while inactive. It was escalated when a Twitter user shared screenshots showing WhatsApp doing so while they were asleep, and Elon Musk commented on the issue. Meta and Google later confirmed it was a bug in the Android operating system. Users can check if the microphone has been used while WhatsApp was inactive in a Privacy dashboard added to Android 12. If so, users should disable WhatsApp’s microphone access.
