Only men can offer prayers at this temple built for nightwatchman
In the village of Sangargali in Belagavi district, Karnataka, a temple has been built in honor of a former nightwatchman known as Ravalkatta Baba. Considered a mystic with supernatural powers, Baba is believed to have stopped a train without a stoppage. The temple has unique rules, including a ban on women entering the premises and men taking prasadam (sacred food) home. Devotees, including politicians, visit the temple, which is open twice a week. The temple was renovated after being abandoned for some years, and a local festival called jatra was stopped due to objections from elders and the forest department.
