Over 1.5k protesters detained in K’taka

The dawn-to-dusk bandh in Bengaluru opposing the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu was peaceful, with no untoward incidents reported. Over 1,500 protesters were detained, but were released by evening. The police had deployed platoons of Karnataka State Reserve Police and other forces across the state. Pro-Kannada activists hit the roads in the city, but there were no reports of road blockages or forced closures of businesses. Public transportation services were operational throughout the day.
